ABOUT SARDINIA

One of Italy's largest islands, Sardinia is full of coves and bays you will desire to set your anchor at, starting with Baunei Coast and Cala Goloritze, all the way to the Maddalena Archipelago, Spiaggia di Barraconi and Tavolara Island.

Cagliari is a coastal Italian city where you can find everything you need for the perfect vacation – perfect blue lagoons, rich cultural heritage, and ravishing architecture, art, and charm. Cagliari is famous for its white sand beach Porto Pino, also referred to as Caribbean Sardinia. Sulcis Iglesiente is the name of the geographic area known for being favored by Phoenicians and Carthaginians, which makes it one of the most significant archaeological sites in Italy. Due to this, it has been listed. However, gourmets will recognize Sardinia for its iconic pastry - pane carasau. Pane Carasau is a thin and crisped flatbread flavored with the traditional spice of Italy – rosemary. A piece of architecture worth seeing is Torre dello Sperone, located in the historical part of the city. It's a medieval bastion that has taken name after a local revolutionary Vincenzo Sulis, who spent twenty-two years of his life in solitary confinement inside of its walls.

Cannigione Houses are made of pink and white granite, picture/perfect beaches, charming restaurants with breathtaking views, and idyllic scenery – this Italian fishing village marks all the must-haves on your traveling bucket list. Nowadays this village is more about tourists than fishing with renowned resorts on the coastline.

Olbia is a coastal city in northeast Sardinia where the beaches are as beautiful as the architecture. It holds an archaeological Museum where you can testify to the collection of Nuragic artifacts as well as the Roman warships. However, the most mesmerizing sight might be one of the hilltops Nuraghe Riu Mulino, which is an archaeological complex with views of the Gulf of Olbia. You can also enjoy snorkeling in the protected marine area of Tavolara and discover the richness of the sea life of unspoiled nature.

Portisco is a coastal village favored by sailing enthusiasts as it is close to the Gulf of Cugnana. Portisco paints a perfect picture of a typical coastal Italian village and will charm you with its restaurants, sandy beaches, and serene coves. The landscape is perfect for exploring by hiking, where you can discover several archaeological sites from the Nuragic, Punic, and Roman eras or wind up your mind with a walk in one of the local wineries and making a picnic. Portisco will charm you with its atmosphere, ambiance, and idyllic countryside.

Arzachena is a town in the province of Sassari in northern Sardinia, which beholds the mysterious sight of the Valley of the Moon. It s not to be confused with the Valley of the Moon of Capo Testa, as we are talking about the place also called Piana Dei Grandi Sassi (which translates to plains of big stones). A group of jagged granite peaks surrounds the plateau.  The stones date back to the Quaternary period and were shaped by erosion and weather nowadays take shapes of animals or human faces here we can also find tracks of the first human settlements in shelters under rocks. These megalithic circles are thought to belong to the Culture of Arzachena. Village Aggius, also of ancient origin, and its medieval center will bring you back in time and depict historical scenery worth seeing.

Carloforte

Maddalena is the name of the archipelago and consists of seven islands: La Maddalena island, Caprera island, Budelli island, Santa Maria, Spargi, Santo Stefano, and Razzoli. These islands are known for their minimal footprint and consequently, perfectly preserved nature and magnificent scenery. If you are a fan of stargazing on the beach, any of the islands from the archipelago will provide you with a clear sky that gives a breathtaking view of the milky-way. Maddalena islands are not hard to reach, as you can board a ferry from the Sardinian port of Palau and from here it takes only 20 minutes of sailing. A special treat for your eyes is the pink granite landscapes of Gallura. While the islands of the archipelago are ideal for activities such as sailing, snorkeling, swimming, and water sports, in the evening you can enjoy a walk through the lively and colorful town of La Maddalena. Don't let the size of this town fool you as there are many cultural activities to enjoy in this charming little place. Chapel of the Madonetta is a chapel built on a cliff rising from the sea and is said to be one of the most evocative places of the whole archipelago. The story of its placement is a poetic one, telling of a local fisherman that took shelter in its small granite coast and thus escaped the shipwreck. Fisherman Scotto wanted to place a small statue of the Virgin Mary as a form of gratitude as he had prayed to the Madonna. The statue became known as the Madonetta and local fishermen considered it a token of luck and safely return from the sea. Therefore in 1926, a small chapel was built. There is a yearly procession celebrated on the 1st of May and the Holy Mass is being held at this very place as it still holds much of the meaning to the locals and is part of the local lore.

Porto Rotondo

Moving on from the north, at the southeast part of Sardinia, you will find Villasimius – a town with a wild nightlife that attracts tourists eager to dance on a beach until sunrise, but there is much more to this coastal town than its rich nightlife. In the 13th century, it was known as the village of Carbonara, but it became a ghost town and remained one until the early years of the 19th century, due to the numerous raids from pirates in its past. The beauty of its coves and beaches combined with historical value makes it the best vacation spot in the region.  Spiaggia di Porto Giunco is said to be one of the most beautiful beaches here and tourists can even enjoy the saltwater lake of Timi Am inhabited by the island's pink flamingos.

Porto Pollo is one of the most adorned beaches of Sardinia and a favorite place for kitesurfing and other watersports. Other popular beaches are Porto Pozzo, Cala Goloritzè,   Porto Giunco Beach, popular for its Caribbean look, La Pelosa beach, Cala Brandinchi, and Tuerredda beach, unique for its geographical scenery with a creek and rocks complimenting white sand.

Cala dei Sardi is considered to be the largest eco-friendly floating landing in Italy. It holds basic facilities like showers and restrooms, and there is a beach bar/restaurant to pass the time. Wifi and electricity are among the available services, but the biggest downside is the lack of fuel as a service.
